Accessibility statement

How accessible this site is

This site has been built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA as far as we are able. We test as we build rather than auditing at the end.

Specifically, this site has the following in place.

• A skip link at the top of every page, so keyboard users can jump straight past the navigation to the main content.
• A visible focus indicator on every link and button, so you can always see where you are when using a keyboard.
• Body text at 18 pixels or larger throughout. Nothing a visitor needs to read is set smaller than 16 pixels.
• Text and background colours chosen to meet AA contrast ratios, including on our teal and dark bands.
• Descriptive text for every image, written for a reader rather than left as a stock caption.
• Email links that open with the headings already in place, so you can send us what we need without filling in a form.
• No entrance animations, and hover movement is switched off if you have asked your device to reduce motion.
• A menu that tells assistive technology whether it is open or closed, and navigation landmarks that are labelled.
• Pages that reflow to a single column on small screens and support browser zoom without loss of content.

Known limitations

We would rather be honest about the gaps than claim full compliance.

• Our introduction video does not yet have captions or a transcript. We will add both when the final video is published.
• Our privacy, cookie and acceptable use documents are supplied by a third party, GetTerms, and we do not control their markup.
• Our cookie banner is provided by GetTerms and its accessibility is determined by them.
• This site has not yet been independently audited, and we have not yet tested it with every combination of browser and screen reader.
